Community Mosaic Kick Off - March 23, 2019

April 1, 2019

After months of planning, we held our first "tiling" event at the Boys & Girls Club in American Canyon on Satruday, March 23--a fitting place to start, since that is where the finished product will be installed!

First we announced the two artists that inspired the mosaic design--Anne Pentland of Nimbus Arts and Yarra Bolla, a High School Senior here in American Canyon.

Then we got to work.  With a little bit of training--and a lot of encouragement--about 25 people started putting together the mosaic design.  The first step is to assemble some 100-150 "grasses"--we made over three dozen during the first session.  Since the goal is to have as many members of the community help with the art, we decided to start with something easy!

Although Nimbus Arts is providing technical support throughout the process, Arts Foundation members will do most of the "hands on" work with the community.

The next step is to attend our annual Art Extravaganza show, Saturday, April 6, from 11am to 5pm, at SpringHill Suites Resort.  Not only will you get to see incredible art from throughout the Bay Area, you will also be able to work on the mosaic.

You will also get to vote for the "People's Choice" award; and enjoy wine and refreshments, courtesy of our Premier Sponsor, SpringHill Suites Resort.  And last, but not least, we will also hold our Silent Auction fund raiser--and of course, most of the art is for sale!
